Ring Resizing

Whether your ring has become too loose, feels uncomfortably tight, or simply no longer fits as it once did, our experienced working goldsmiths can expertly resize it while preserving its beauty, comfort, and integrity.

We understand that an engagement ring, wedding band, or sentimental family heirloom is far more than just a piece of jewellery. Every ring entrusted to our workshop is treated with the utmost care and craftsmanship, ensuring it is returned fitting perfectly and looking as beautiful as the day it was first worn.

Our Ring Resizing Process

1. A Thorough Assessment

Every resize begins with a careful inspection by one of our skilled goldsmiths. We assess the ring's design, metal type, stone settings, and overall condition to determine the safest and most appropriate resizing method.

This allows us to identify any wear, loose claws, or areas that may benefit from attention while your ring is in our workshop.

2. Measuring for the Perfect Fit

Achieving the correct fit is essential. We carefully confirm the desired finger size and consider the style and width of the ring, as wider bands often require a slightly different fit than slimmer designs.

Our aim is to ensure your ring feels secure, comfortable, and natural to wear every day.

3. Resizing the Ring

Depending on whether the ring needs to be made larger or smaller, our goldsmiths use different traditional techniques.

To make a ring smaller:

A small section of the band is carefully removed before the ring is expertly reshaped and seamlessly soldered back together.

To make a ring larger:

The band is carefully cut and an additional piece of matching precious metal is added. We use the same metal as your ring—whether yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, platinum, or silver—to maintain its quality and appearance.

Every adjustment is carried out with precision to preserve the ring's original proportions and comfort.

4. Precision Laser or Traditional Soldering

Our skilled goldsmiths permanently join the ring using professional jewellery soldering techniques, creating a strong, durable bond designed to last a lifetime.

The join is then carefully refined until it becomes virtually invisible.

5. Restoring the Shape

After resizing, the ring is carefully rounded and checked to ensure it has returned to its perfect circular shape.

This helps maintain both the appearance and long-term durability of the piece.

6. Polishing and Refinishing

The resized area is meticulously smoothed before the entire ring is professionally polished.

This removes any signs of the resizing process, restores the original finish, and brings back the ring's natural brilliance.

White gold rings are typically re-rhodium plated as part of the finishing process, restoring their bright white appearance and showroom shine.

7. Final Quality Inspection

Before your ring leaves our workshop, it undergoes a comprehensive quality inspection.

We check:

  • Accuracy of the new finger size.
  • The strength and finish of the resized section.
  • That all gemstones remain secure.
  • The overall condition and polish of the ring.

Only once our goldsmiths are completely satisfied is your jewellery ready to be returned.
